Mid Winter Update

What a grim winter for cycling it has been so far!

I have managed a few forays out into the wilderness to scope out the route, but not as many as planned. Needless to say, my forays were met with bewilderment at the steepness of some of the Peninsula roads. Having said that, I also rode out to the Lake Ellesmere Outlet one day a month or so ago along a dead flat road and track, so there will be some respite for the hills. I am hoping to bring the course out there, it's a beautiful area, just a long as the outlet isn't open when we venture out that way.

I have had a few comments re. the course date. It clashes with the World Rogaine Championships here in Christchurch. I am not too keen to change the date at the present as I am weary of it clashing with other events and 'things' people have going on. If you have any comments or strong feelings on this either way, let me know and I'll have a think about it.

Anyway, with the shortest day long behind us, I am finally finding some motivation to get out and clock up some miles, summer is just around the corner after all. It would be shame for it to arrive feeling as flat as I do now.

Oh... one final thing. I have a dozen or so people that have given me there interest so far. I'm not entirely sure how many are actually planning on riding, still just thinking about it, or are just vaguely interested in the idea as of yet. Plenty of time though. I'll post up a 'expressions of interest list' later in the year and you can update me your keenness then.
